A focus - Nether Bartle!

I have known that it is necessary to focus my geographical area of research to a small section of the NW Preston City Deal development.  This 1895 map shows my chosen area.

As far as maps go it has changed very little over the last 150 or so years.  Currently it is dominated by fields of pasture bounded by hedgerows containing some substantial mature trees.  The farmland surrounding Moor Hall is edged by old roads; Bartle Lane, Lea Lane, Sidgreaves Lane, Hoyles Lane and Sandy Lane.  These lanes are dotted with historic establishments; Bartle Hall, The Sitting Goose, The Saddle Inn, St Andrew's and Blessed George Haydock Roman Catholic Church, Maxy House Farm and The Woodplumpton Club.

This section of the MasterPlan proposes that the area will be crossed by the Western Distributor and WestEast Link roads.  That it will contain the Western Park, a primary school, possibly a village centre and numerous housing developments.
